APA and landlords

Can my housing association landlord request an APA on my behalf when I migrate to UC -I'm gonna make my claim on the 11th November -when do I contact my landlord-before I make my claim or after I make my claim ?

I'm assuming the APA is to have the rent paid direct to your landlord?
After you claim UC you can log on to your UC account and make that request on your journal. The journal & account are available immediately after you claim.
You can then inform landlord to keep them updated.

Most people pay rent per calendar month so UC fits perfectly. I haven't heard of a Housing Association wanting rent paid twice a month before.

There are various APA's, I believe the rent direct to landlord happens monthly.

Thanks Kim, I didn't realise that was covered under the same name.

Yes your landlord can request rent payment to be paid directly. This is usually once a month. My daughter’s rent is paid directly and usually on the same date she receives her UC payment.
Or you can just ask UC yourself.

Thanks All for the replies-the APA was in fact to have my housing element paid direct to my housing association-I contacted them yesterday and explained my circumstances-they've agreed to put in a request for an APA on my behalf -I shall do the same on my journal when it becomes operational-and hopefully that's gonna be one less thing to worry about
