I have a very stressed out family member who needs some advice.

She has found out she was wrongly diagnosed something that has now been changed to a new diagnosis thanks to the help of her GP.

She is still waiting on a her last review to be processed which has her old diagnosis on but her care & mobility needs still remain the same as the review forms that we helped her fill out in June.

Will she need to inform the DWP of this change in diagnosis, she's so worried the stress over this review its really starting to negatively impact her life & we as a family just want to try and help lessen the burden as much as we can.

Thank you in advance

I would also like to add that her medication she is taking also hasn't changed.

PIP is not awarded based on a diagnosis. As her conditions are still the same there's nothing to report. There are very long delays with review decisions and she could be waiting anything up to about a year for a decision. Her current award will continue until a new decision is made.

Hey @Daisy1987, as Poppy mentions PIP is about how your conditions affect you. If nothing has changed about how they affect her day to day living then it won't make a difference to PIP what the diagnosis is.

Of course, if the new medication has caused a difference that should be mentioned, any side effects that must be dealt with as well.

But if nothing has changed regarding day to day life and mobility, then there is nothing to report.
