DLA child night care

Hi

My son has autism and revives middle rate care DLA

He has a sleep cycle where he will sleep through the night for 4 nights, then the next four nights will be up from midnight until 5am. He just doesn’t need the sleep. He’s only 2 and a half so needs constant supervision in this time.

Is it worth reporting this to see if we qualify for high rate care or would they say no because it isn’t ever night, even though it’s such long periods when it does happen?

Thanks so much

Hi @guineapigs123, is this a change from when you first applied for DLA? If so you should put in a change of circumstances.

You can do so by calling 0800 121 4600, that is the DLA helpline.

If this isn't a change, but was something you mentioned on your initial application, how long ago was that application?

Personally, I would get some expert advice before rushing in to put a change of circumstances in. I'd advise you to speak to an advice agency near you.

When reporting changes they look at the whole award again. Once a decision is made it could either remain the same, be decreased, increased or stop completely.
