Hello. I had a hip replacement around 3 years ago. At the time I did not know I could apply for a benefit like pip. So I just carried on with ESA. I want to apply for pip now. Is it possible as I take pain medication for my hip and the hip affects me in different ways. 3 years in. Thanhs

Hi I had mine done last year waiting on second one any time now then my knees after that. Yes you can apply for pip just explain in full details how it affect you in your day to day life. They will want to know about how you get on with things like general care for yourself showering, using loo, cooking, walking etc. Ring them and get things going ASAP they won't back date unfortunately only from start of your claim.

I'd highly recommend getting help filling in the form 😊

Hi @s1s, welcome to the community 😊 It certainly can be possible for you to apply for PIP, as long as you have not yet reached state pension age and your conditions have affected you for at least 3 months and you expect they will continue to affect your day to day life for at least a further 9 months. Given that you have been having hip issues for 3 years I imagine the latter two certainly apply.
