LCWRA and short trip, reporting self employed income from

I hit save too early!
I’m on LCRWA and will be taking a 4 night trip to the US in two weeks.
I know as I don’t have a work coach so won’t need to technically tell them but I will have to login to my account from abroad to report some small self employed earnings as my trip coincides with the last day of my assessment period - will logging in from there trigger anything?Should I let them know in case?
Many thanks!0 -
Logging into your journal while away is very likely going to flag on the system. I would tell them you're going to be on the safe side. You are allowed to go abroad for up to 1 month and you have no commitments anyway.

Gah! And once I tell them it shouldn’t flag it on the system?! It didn’t while in Ireland previously (dual residency) but unsure if the US is a different kettle of fish even though it’s abroad either way!
Thanks Poppy, the worry of it all…

I would inform them you are travelling, and will be updating your journal while in the states. As Poppy says you are allowed to go abroad for up to one month before it effects anything. A connection from the USA that updates your journal could cause something to flag, if they have no prior warning that you will be in that location.

what is this "journal" you talk about like what is it what do you have to do with it how do u get it?

It's part of a Universal Credit claim, unless you make your claim via a phone call. This Is how you communicate with UC, rather than ring them.
You also receive your monthly UC statement on there, where you can see all the elements you're entitled to, as well as any applicable deductions.
You also report any changes through your journal and any letters are uploaded onto your journal, rather than receive a paper letter in the post.

not looking forward to that

I don't claim UC yet as I still claim ESA but I manage my daughters UC claim as her appointee. The journal is a great feature of UC and I've never had any issues with her claim. There's many people claiming legacy benefits that are unable to use the phone so contacting DWP for them it's impossible. With the journal, everything is online so no need for phone calls and no dreaded long waiting times for someone to answer the phone.
