Just had ID app for UC migration

hello everyone
I just had my ID appointment at the job centre for universal credit migration and all went ok. I was really worried about it but was only there for about half an hour. because I don’t have any photo ID they checked by asking questions.
they said I don’t have any claimant commitments apart from reporting any changes and doing my to do list because I am in the support group and I won’t have any more appointments at the job centre. I can expect my payment early December.
So far so good, have had 1 phone call and 1 appointment and both people were nice enough, even though it was difficult for me as I suffer with my mental health.
I know a lot are worried so just wanted to post about my experience.

Hey @mangomungo, thank you for posting your experience. I sometimes think it can be a bit like how, if you have a negative experience you are far more likely to leave a review for a restaurant than if you had a positive or even just okay experience. A lot of people interact with the DWP and there certainly are a lot of negative experiences, but it is good to remember that there are millions of people who interact with the DWP who also do not have a negative experience.
Again, thank you for sharing your experience.

Hi hope your well, have recently received migration letter to apply for universal credit, am not doing nothing yet as really don't feel upto all this, me too suffer with mental health including PTSD including various other serious health conditions, its good to hear your id appointment went well, if i may ask once the universal application has been sent online then how longer after that is it the DWP requests and asks you to go and attend with prove of id? Did the DWP request any bank statements to show them ? Reason I ask is its supposed to be a migration not a review, Does the DWP make the appointment to attend without the claimant being asked first if the appointment time is suitable convenient? Much appreciated if reply, obviously like so many others am worried how this will be for me without me having confrontation in person with that DWP crowd

Hello - I can’t remember exactly but it was 2/3 weeks after applying and before the payment date. If you have the correct ID you shouldn’t have to go in face to face as I don’t own any photo ID so they had to ask me questions about my previous addresses etc instead. If you have photo ID and I think another form such as a utility bill (it will tell you when you make your application) you can upload a photo of it instead.
they didn’t ask me for bank statements and they didn’t ask me whether the appointment was convenient or not but if it isn’t I’m sure you could put a message on the journal asking them to change it. I didn’t apple straight away either I left it until the 3 months were nearly up but it wasn’t as bad as I imagined it to be. Hope it all goes well for you when you decide to apply :)0
