    It also did this for me when I went through the eligibility check without confirming I'd already received a letter. As soon as I clicked 'someone else' as in not me or a partner, it said not eligible, so none of this makes sense to me despite trying to understand it all.

    With the Government, things often make no sense. The most important thing to remember is that the WHD is automatically paid, it's not something you have to claim. For this reason you haven't done anything wrong.

    Silly question.

    How do they know someone in the home qualifies, if that person doesn't have an account with the company itself.

    Just curious.

    They use data provided by DWP and HMRC to identify households they maybe entitled.

    Hi I hope no one minds me posting this here.

    I had never heard of the warm home discount until today when I came across it while browsing.

    I went to the eligibility checker and it said I was entitled. It is obviously too late to apply now but it is frustrating to think I was probably entitled to this for years but never got sent a letter to tell me to apply.

    I wanted to add here that the Government are looking at changing the eligibility criteria again to drop the 'high cost to heat' a home so that effectively all of those on means tested benefits would be applicable. The consultation closes tomorrow I believe just before midnight:

    We are seeking views on extending the Warm Home Discount scheme 2025 to 2026 to all recipients of means-tested benefits (MTBs).

    Consultation description

    This consultation sets out proposals to expand the reach of the Warm Home Discount Scheme by removing the high-cost-to-heat threshold in the current Warm Home Discount (England and Wales) Regulations 2022 (for winter 2025 to 2026) and increasing the level of spend available in Scotland for suppliers to allocate through the Broader Group. All households in receipt of means-tested benefits would then be eligible to receive the £150 rebate.

    Additionally, it proposes to extend the Park Homes Warm Home Discount scheme to include other individuals without a direct relationship with an energy supplier while maintaining the current budget.

    The consultation seeks input from consumers, consumer groups and charities, Warm Home Discount recipients and obligated energy suppliers.
