I have LCWRA and PIP and my wife has NRPF but does not work. Will I lose my benefits. My next question is even though UC see it as a joint claim would I get the couples rate or the singles rate is?

Will my benefits be affected? As she has NRPF and is not working. She cares for me due to me being on PIP and disabled. Can she get Carers Allowance?

She will not be able to claim carers allowance or carers element of UC because she has NRPF. As she doesn't work then even though you need to claim UC as a couple, your entitlement will not change due to her having NRPF.

Hey @sai87, I just moved this over to it's own topic so it avoids confusion with the previous conversation in that discussion. Do let us know if you have anymore questions or are unsure of the answers you have so far received!

@luvpink NRFP is when you marry a spouse who is from another country and they come to the UK to join you. They will have NRPF “No Recourse to Public Funds” meaning they will not be able to access public funds (DWP Benefits).

@poppy123456 So if I work and my wife has NRPF and does not work but we have a child. Will she be or will I be able to get any child benefits?

If you have a child then you will be able to claim benefits for that child. If your wife works then her earnings will be taken into consideration for your UC entitlement. The work allowance will also apply to your wife as well as yourself because it applies to the claim and not the person.
