Keeping your spirits up

Hi

I'd love to hear how other people keep their spirits up, especially on a drab day.

I struggle with this every day but much worse in autumn and winter and especially since my mobility has been severely restricted the last couple of years.

I went on a course yesterday and at lunchtime everyone walked off to the canteen leaving me dragging 20 minutes behind on my crutches. I just don't feel like I'm part of the world anymore. I certainly have developed a new perspective on disability which I didn't have before.

I like looking at the posts here. I've felt less isolated since joining so thank you.

I'm really sorry they left you out, @Billiegoat. Sadly, I think many people forget to check in with others or assume that if someone wants company or to join in, they’ll ask.

I find that being outside helps me stay grounded and lifts my spirits. Just taking a moment to sit outside, appreciate what I do have, and feel connected to the world and nature.

Did you at least find the course interesting?

    Thanks for your comments

I will try to look for the positives around me. Sadly it's easier to focus on what you've lost.

I didn't mind that I was left behind it was more of an observation.

I went on a course on keeping well at work. I've been fortunate to have a supportive employer who has made adjustments to allow me to continue working. For that I am thankful 🙏

It sounds like a really useful course @Billiegoat, and I'm pleased to hear you have a supportive employer, it can make all the difference!
