Iresa - uc Rent

Hi, can someone explain when you are transferring to uc from iresa support group, I've heard it can take up to five weeks to sort the rent, that there's a run on of two weeks so you've to pay the next three ,should it take the full five weeks,( or longer),Do you get the rent paid back to you or not. My friend added this of my yesterday and I've no clue. It will be good to know for myself too.
Thank you.

Good morning
You get a 2 week run on but the uc is paid monthly so for example my uc is actioned on the 27th of the month money is received on the 2nd of the following month. So in theory your months rent ( or housing element) will be in that payment. If you need the money to pay rent weekly before your payment day, you can ask for an advance payment.

You do have to repay any advance payment you have but this is done in instalments.

First payment of UC is always 1 month and 6 days after you submit your claim, unless payment sate falls on either a weekend or a bank holiday and then payment will be the Friday before. Your UC payment will then be for 1 month.
For example, if they claimed UC on 15th of the month, assessment periods dates will be 15th to 14th of every month and payment date will be 21st of the month and that payment is for that period.
