Panicking

Just had a thought in 2019 I had payback from esa for 11 years I should have been getting extra 400 a month anyways now I'm thinking did I need to inform the council of this ? In 2020 esa checked how much saving I had left from back payment all was OK now having housing review worried that I didn't inform them

Hey @Catherine21, I hope you've been re-assured a little but I moved this over to our benefits section since it closely relates to that. Incase you have further questions!

EEr No my query is in 2019 I was underpaid for 11 years I was in the Support Group was paid for lcw so got a backpay that's fine the question is I didn't inform council as my esa went up I hope I'm making sense so from lcw pay to lwcra pay did I need to inform them ???

No you didn't need to. Money owed to you from benefits underpayment is disregarded for 1 year. If the payment you received was more than £5,000 and it was due to an official error then it would have been disregarded for the life of the ESA claim. So it wouldn't affect your HB even if it was more than £6,000.

Oh Nashota awful isn't it my hair falling out with stress thankyou for responding Oh I love this group and people so so helpful and kind xx

You didn't need to because your ESA is Income Related which would mean you would have been entitled to the maximum housing benefit… minus any payment for bedroom tax. (which I think you're affected by?)
