I am awaiting review outcome and have been reassured about this from poppy, with thanks.

I am set to retire (oap) in june of next year, if my review is succesful will I remain on pip or will I have to accept govt pension and no additional help?

Is there another benefit I should be aware of?

Many thanks for your help.

PIP will continue for as long as you remain entitled to it, even past State pension age. There's Attendance Allowance but this doesn't have a mobility part and you can't claim AA and PIP at the same time.

If you're currently claiming any other benefits such as ESA/JSA or Universal Credit and you're a single person they will all stop once you reach state pension age. You should apply for your state pension about 4 months before you reach this age.

thank you for the prompt reply, I do not claim any other benefit and the mobility element is a major part of my claim appart from assides. what happens if my review is delayed as is commom apparantly, do I inform pensions before the deadline or await pip decision.

also, will means testing inform any decision either way?

    Thank you.

You're welcome. It doesn't matter if the decision is made after you reach state pension age. Your current award will continue until a decision is made on the review. If the worst happens and you're refused or you're not happy with any award you may have you can challenge that decision. If you go onto be awarded it will be paid from the date it stopped or you'll receive the difference between your old and new award.

The most important this is, you do not claim AA because it has no mobility part. You do not need to report anything for your state pension because a PIP award is irrelevant to that.

Nearer the time that you reach state pension age you should also use a benefits calculator to check entitlement to Pension Credit. Unless you live with a partner that's younger than you and then you won't be able to claim as a mixed aged couple.

hello again, my partner is older and claims state pension in her own right, out of the range for pension credit as has 2 small pensions from work. What are the peramiters for 'mixed aged couples', not aware of this as we are pretty independent from each other?

Thank you for your assistance, much appreciated, very confusing to sort through from govt website...

hi, no, she qualified for full state pension, worked for 48 years and retired 2 years ago. does this impact on my situation?

You can have a state pension forecast here.

    https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension

Your partner's state pension or any other pensions will not impact yours. As they're not receiving any disability benefits it's unlikely that you'll be entitled to any Pension Credit but you can use a benefits calculator here to make sure.

    https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit-calculator

You will need to put information in as if you're already state pension age and also include your partners details and income.
