Help regarding migrating to ADP

hi as title suggests I am migrating to ADP come November end.

I have enhanced rate for both components for an ongoing period however looking at claim I believe I need to update some details to ensure they reflect most now. For context I took over my claim in 2021 before then my mum was my appointee. Since taking over (due to her death) it has been a very turbulent time in my life and I only now feel I am getting my affairs in order.

I want to contact social security Scotland and notify them of the relevant changes however I am worried that

A. They will ask why I did not inform them sooner e.g I suffered injury 3 months after she past which put me in hospital and now has permanent life long effects.

B. When do I report the Change. I only became aware of potential differences in what I believe to be correct and what they have in October this year. My injury happened after her death, my mental health was and still is poor and multiple other factors. I don’t want a huge overpayment

c. My mum managed my claim as appointee since I was a young boy so I believe it is missing a lot of info regarding my mental health, OCD tendencies, ADHD, depression & anxiety more so from my late teens

D. I do not know what was put on the original forms so when I do report a change how do I go about getting this too.

Like I said my mum was my appointee and managing my claim. Changes in my abilities to handle my own affairs, learning more about what pip/adp is only recently have prompted me to want to ensure things are up to date . I just don’t want to feel like a bad person or receive a fine etc for just wanting to do the right thing as quite simply I could have just left it altogether - which of course I wouldn’t do but I want to act in good faith and be compliant.

I am very stressed and nervous about the whole situation truthfully. I did not put myself in this situation I just want it sorted.

Hi @Silentbutdeadly, welcome to the community. I first of all just want to say that it's really understandable that life would be turbulent after something like that. You aren't a bad person, nor have you done anything wrong. It's okay, we'll help figure out with you what may be the best way forward with this. We will need a little more information though if that's okay?

When you say things have changed, have they changed for the better or for the worse? It sounds like for the worse from what you have said.

You already receive enhanced rate for both components and you will be migrating to ADP in November anyway correct? You will have a chance to tell Social Scotland then exactly how conditions are affecting you.

If it does make you feel more at ease though you can contact them and request a change of circumstances.

thank you very much for your reply and compassion!

I feel very confused at certain aspects of the claim as I believe in some elements things have improved and in others things have gotten worse. Overall things are worse but I just don’t like that I do not know what was initially put on the form.

I feel like I need to add so much they are going to be like what’s going on here and it’s honestly added to my depression and anxiety I cannot stop my mind from making scenarios up
