This is a letter I have just got from the council I think universal credit amount is wrong

my award for this period was £726.99 but this is stating I received 809.64. I had £82.65 taken off for the savings so does anyone think this calculation is wrong

    Hi @easytiger, Perhaps you could contact them to see if they can explain the calculation to you? They might be able to break down how it's been worked out and then if it's wrong they can recalculate it.

    I hope you can get it cleared up quickly!

    Local councils work out  Council Tax Support by counting your Universal Credit award (before any reductions/ deductions, other than the benefit cap
    

    this is response I got from universal credit when I asked them to send the actual amount I got to the council so they can revise my claim.

    My local council are changing savings limit to £6000 for my circumstances next April so if I pay my council tax using my savings will this be classed as deprivation of capital

    I don't think this would be seen as deprivation of capital @easytiger. Deprivation of capital is more about hiding money, giving it away, or spending lots of money to keep yourself below the limits. As Council Tax is a bill that many of us need to pay, it shouldn't be seen as deprivation of capital.

    Thanks Rosie I thought as much had a look around internet for an answer but cannot seem to get a straight answer it seems you have to read between the lines so I thought I know my new friends on scope will no.
