UC DLA
Hi I have just found out that I should of let UC know about us getting DLA for 2 of our children. The thing is we have been getting DLA for a few years now. We have been getting UC longer than DLA.
I work full time my wife is a currier for our children we have a third child who is waiting on a DLA decision. Yes it is a generic problem we have 5 kids in total 2 who are not affected.
Obviously now I have to report the DLA to UC even though it has been years.
My question is what can I expect will or UC be stop or what is likely to happen
At the start we just thought because it's all government thay inform each other as to what is happening stupid I know but you just don't think at the time.

Your UC won't stop.
Going forward the disabled child element will be added to your monthly payment.
It should be backdated to the date your child was awarded DLA. Backpay often takes several weeks at least to calculate and pay, a letter will be added to your Journal when this has been done, and the money sent as a separate payment.

Good morning @whoknows.
On Universal Credit (UC), there is a "disabled child" element which increases your award. The amount you receive depends on the rate of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) your children are awarded. Reporting the DLA won’t stop or reduce your UC; in fact, it should increase it.
Although they may not backdate the increase for the entire length of your UC claim, it’s still worth stating the date from which the DLA was awarded as the date of change. You may be asked why you are "late reporting", and a decision maker will then determine whether or not the disabled child element can be backdated.
When you first claimed UC, you should have been asked whether your children were receiving DLA. If you review your journal entry from when you submitted your claim details, can you check what you selected for that question?

That's a relief to hear thinks when we first got UC we ware not receiving any DLA. I do remember when first applying for DlA when we got the a diagnosis for or children's condition that the citizens advice centre basically said or UC would be ok they said nothing about telling them.
