Hi, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and pulmonary fibrosis. I am now really struggling to work. I am looking for advice on how to go about applying for medical early retirement. I am 61 and have a local government pension.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi @zeta5 and welcome to the community 😊
I'm sorry you're struggling and considering early retirement. I found some information on the Local Government Pension Scheme website. There are different tiers that affect how much you are paid and you need to have paid into the pension for at least 2 years. You would need to speak to your employer who must be satisfied that:
- you are permanently unable to do your job until your Normal Pension Age, and
- you are not immediately capable of undertaking gainful employment.
I hope this is helpful for you. Let us know if you have any more questions.
