LCWRA
Hi
Today I received a letter in my journal saying that u had been awarded LCWRA. My first sick note was handed in on the 7th of August and assessment was in October. I have been off sick since July with sick notes to cover that whole period. Would I be due any backpay of LCWRA?
It says it can be backdated to when your sent in your first sick note so would that mean from August?
Need some help. The process really stressed me out and now I'm worrying again.

There is a waiting period of 3 full assessment periods before LCWRA is added to your payment. During that time no additional money is payable. It is possible no backpay is due.
In order to help we will need to know the following:
The date you provided your first Fit Note to UC
Were there any gaps in your Fit Notes?
Your assessment period & payment dates.

Hi I sent my first sick note on the 7th of August. There were no gaps in the fit notes no.
I receive payments on the 3rd and 17th of the month and my assessment period is the 24th-25th

Your timeline is:
July/August AP: Fit note provided *partial AP not counted for waiting period *
August/ September: AP 1 September/October: AP 2 October /November: AP 3
November/December: Eligible for LCWRA element.
3rd January & 17th January: First LCWRA element paid.
No backpay owed.

Thank you Kimmy87 for your help really appreciate it. On what grounds do they issue backdated payments do you know?

If the WCA process took a long time then backpay would be owed.
Even then, there is still no money payable for the waiting period.
Say the WCA process took 6 months. A month or two LCWRA would be owed (dates depending).

Hi what is the work allowance in terms of lwcra?
0 -
The work allowance is £404/month if you claim for help with the rent. If you don’t it’s £673/month. It will only be relevant if you or a partner are working. If you have children on your claim you will already have the work allowance.

Hi I have children but I am not working due to my circumstances. So does that mean the work allowance is irrelevant?

Yes that's correct 😊

Unless you're claiming with a partner that works and then the work allowance will apply. It applies to the claim, not to the person.
