WHICH SPORT SHALL I TAKE UP ?
Hi Folks
I am a male in my mid 50s and have right hemiplegia from birth. My right side is severely weaker than my left.
I feel lonely and isolated at times.
I was thinking of taking up some type of sport where I could meet people and increase my social circle.
Can you kindly recommend any type of sport that I could take up?
Thanks in advance

Are there any walking groups in your area? Lots of opportunity for chatting whilst walking.

Hi @geek84, have you ever looked into Boccia? It's not something many people have heard of but there was a lot more talk about it after the Paralympics. It's a sport that's very adaptable so lots of people with different impairments can play. If you're in England, Boccia England have a directory of clubs:
Find a club | Boccia England Limited
Could be worth looking into 😊
What kind of sports do you think you'd enjoy?

I would definitely recommend Boccia I have been playing it all my life ever since childhood and its a really tactical sport. The only thing is that it's not a competitive sport that can make it into the Olympics but I'm sure the Scope army can change this

I do a bit of yoga (and the girl does a seated Quigong class).
Both my yoga & walking groups are men only. Men Walking & Talking
I'd love the idea of kite buggying but it requires stuff that I don't have at the moment (practice, a car to get to the beach) lol
It's great that you're seeking something to exercise/join with.
You're welcome to join the MWAT social zoom on a Tuesday as well. . I know its not the same as meeting up but your very welling0 -
Good Morning Folks
@Hopeless I have looked into walking groups but most of them are during the day. Unfortunately, I have a 9 to 5 job.
@Rosie_Scope unfortunately, there are no Boccia clubs near me.
@JW77 I did join a yoga group, but all of them were ladies - I was the odd one out !!!

Most of the MenWalking & Talking, and that assuming you're a guy, are in the evening. If your not I'm sure there are other evening walking groups.
Menoga is a thing:) If you still want to try a bit..0 -
i don't know how your condition affects you but what about darts

@geek84 You could also have a look at Every Body Moves:
They also have a club search to look for local sports clubs, perhaps there's some more ideas there 😊
