Vehicle RFL reduction as nominated driver
Morning all, I'm sure this has been asked before, however here goes:
My disabled partner and I live separately. She has a Blue Badge and is currently on Standard rate of PIP (Don't even get me started on that!), so eligible for reduced RFL. She doesn't drive and does not have a licence, relying completely on me for the majority of her transportation needs. The car is registered in my name and at my address. Is there any way for us to benefit from the reduction in RFL, as it seems that as soon as I use my vehicle without my partner in it, I fall foul of the law, by essentially using an un-taxed vehicle, by definition on the GOV.UK website. This seems more than a little perverse and unfair, and wondered if anyone else is in a similar situation, or has personal experience of how to overcome this obstacle. Many thanks.

Unfortunately, there’s no way around this. The vehicle must only be used for the purpose of the disabled person. Though they do not need to be in the vehicle for every journey.

Thank you. Seems very unfair, but that doesn't surprise me. We will have to hope she is awarded sufficient level for Motability, then a car can sit outside her house until I need to drive her somewhere. 🤷♂️
