Hi, my name is Michaelmx18! Disabled Tax Exemption / Transfer to another vehicle

I bought a new used vehicle and the dealership is having issues registering the vehicle tax as disabled, even though he has my annual certificate of disablement. Anyone know how to go about transferring my Disabled Tax entitlement to the new car? I've been on the phone for over 2 hours this morning with the DWP who then sent me to the ADP because I live in Scotland, they then sent me back to the DWP and no one thus far has been able to answer what is a simple question.. What is the Procedure for transfering your disabled tax entitlement when you change your vehicle. HELP!!

Hi,
The tax class can't be transferred. The new car needs to be applied for. And the old one needs to be changed back to standard.
You should just need the Certificate of Entitlement, which needs to be dated within the last year. I assume that is provided by ADP in your case, though it would be provided by PIP for those of us in England.
Has the dealership said exactly what problem they're having with it? They should just be able to take it to a post office. If they're trying to do it over the phone then that isn't possible.
