A wintry weekend

How are we all today? It's cold here in Yorkshire after snow overnight and now freezing rain ❄️ How are you keeping warm? I've got a cup of green tea, a big fluffy hoodie and a blanket!

I woke up to a fair amount of snow. 🙄Was supposed to be looking after my grandchildren for a few hours this morning but they didn't come because my Son in law couldn't get to work. No roads have been gritted where I live and all buses have stopped.
Thankfully, my daughter arrived home safely from work!
I really dislike this weather! I'll be staying in for the day today and having a PJ day.

Our roads weren't gritted either poppy so my husband was unable to get to work. The plus side for me is that he can bring me regular cups of tea 😂
I'm glad your daughter made it home safely, it's scary driving in this weather. I appreciate seeing the snow on the hills but would rather it stayed off the roads. A PJ day is a great idea! Stay warm and cosy 😊

I'm in God's own county as well, & we've had a fair amount of snow, tho it's raining a little now.
I've been worried about my son & his wife getting back from their holiday in Northumberland, but thankfully they've just got back home.

Yorkshire is the best place to live isn't it @chiarieds 😉 Glad they made it home safely. I hope the weather didn't affect their holiday plans!

Thank you. They're fine now (& so am I), but it took them 3 hours to get home, twice as long as it took them to get there!

Oh wow that's a long journey! I hope they had some snacks to eat on the way. I can't go on a car journey without some 😂

They've just popped around to see me, & shown me photos of the blizzard when they set off! They're just going back home now to get some lunch.

They were brave to drive in a blizzard! It's still throwing it down here and it's sadly melted all of the snow on the fields.

They waited a while, but the blizzard was getting worse! Apparently they were doing all of 13mph initially. So long as they're home safe now.
It's just changed to fine rain here now. I've just managed to get as far as my dustbin, & that's far enough for me today!

Oh blimey, no wonder it took them so long! Haha at least you've been outside which is more than I've done.

I was supposed to go to a Christmas Faye today at a hall but I couldn't go to this due to the weather

Oh that's a shame @durhamjaide2001. Hopefully there'll be another one soon that you can go to. I love going to Christmas Fairs, it gets me in the festive mood!

it's a special one and I paid £20 for me and my support worker to go

Oh I see. I'm assuming you won't be able to get your money back?

no unfortunately not

In the Highlands we had ice and snow Wed/Thurs, no buses running Thursday morning, train running late due to tree on line, buses started in afternoon
Today wind rising and raining, friends electricity off for an hour but very quickly back on.
Going to get the hot chocolate and supper and off to bed - in preparation for power cuts, need to keep ahead to keep warm
Take care, stay safe and warm

Clothing made from membrane fabric is the best choice.
