Debt Relief Order and effect on me moving out
Hi all. I'm in the process of applying for a DRO and for the most part, I feel very well-informed about it all. One thing I'm unsure about is how this will affect my future with regard to moving away from home. I currently live with my mother, but my aim to is leave within a year or two and I'll be looking for somewhere to live with my partner.
I know a DRO impacts your credit file for 6 years, but will this prevent me from moving out?

It won't prevent you from moving out but there maybe issues if you're applying for a mortgage or privately renting through a letting agency because they will do a credit check. Some landlords may also do this check if it's not through a letting agency.

Hi @Retnefel, I had financial trouble in my past would caused a CCJ which stayed on my credit file for six years. When it came to moving the most it affected me was once being requested to have a guarantor also sign the letting agreement. So it should not prevent you moving at all, but you may need a guarantor when signing letting agreements.
I hope you get it all sorted and can move in with your partner soon 🙂
