lcwra part time study query

I am in receipt of the lcwra element for uc (no pip and I’m not applying for it). I would like to attend a college on a part time basis. I’m inquiring would my lcwra claim be placed at risk if I were to pursue a college course. I have the understanding that a full time course would jeopardise the claim.

Hello @Stargazer23. Studying sounds like a great idea. What sort of course are you hoping to study? It should only impact your UC claim if you are entitled to any financial support, such as maintenance loans.

Hello thanks for your reply, no maintenance loan is required so it’s safe to say it should be a clear road ahead. I’m going to study social science / policy.

They're both very interesting subjects, especially combined @Stargazer23. Best of luck with the course and we'd love to hear how you get on.

You need to make sure it's part time and not full time, many courses have little hours but can still be full time.
You said a maintenance loan is not required. If there's a maintenance loan available to you then it will affect your UC, even if you decide not to take that loan.

The relevant courses I’m interested in are under 12 hours a week study. The only bursaries available are for travel expenses. No maintenance loan as it isn’t a university course.
these are only available if it is full time studying .0
