What is the procedure for claiming the housing element when I make my UC migration claim?

As part of the application, you have the opportunity to tell them where you live and how much it costs.

Will the application ask me if I'm already in receipt of housing benefit -is that how it works?

I wasnt asked if I was already in receipt of housing benefit.
Some information here including a help line, sadly the example listed is extremely simplistic so doesnt explain things very well.

Any help here would be appreciated peeps -how do I apply for housing element on my UC application?

There will be a section on the UC form that deals with Housing Costs.
You'll then get a letter from local council saying HB is ending due to your UC claim.
You'll be entitled to two weeks hb (known as a run on payment) after your UC application, which won't be deducted from your first UC payment.
Some information is here:
This one goes through the questions you'll be asked

Thanks Kimmy87 -All this is new to me and I just need to be sure that all my info on my online claim is correct and in order-the last thing I need is to find out that I didn't apply correctly for the housing element 😭-giving me nightmares

If you're renting from social/council housing you will not need to provide proof of liability to pay rent. You will just need to give your landlords details and they contact them directly.
Proof is only needed if privately renting.

Poppy123456-im Renting from Bromford housing association -I have my April 2024 rent change letter if they do need more Info-I understand that I'll need to report my yearly April rent increases when Bromford send me the tenancy letter

You will not need proof of rent. Yes, you will need to report the increase next year. However, if your UC includes Transitional Protection, this will erode when other elements increase or you become entitled to other elements so you won't be any better off.
