Dreams

I've just had my medication changed and I am having vivid dreams.
My dad died nearly 6 years ago, he went into hospital for a routine procedure and an error whilst having this done caused a massive haemorrhage. He died that day. They gave me his clothes in a blue plastic bag, for the last week I've been dreaming that I've been given the bag and I've put it in the dustbin, but the dream is that the bag is always in the bin everytime I open it.
Am I going nuts!
It's not upsetting but it's very un nerving, maybe see my GP?
Anyone else have issues with medication mainly tramadol

Hello, firstly sorry to hear about your dad. I had vivid dreams about my dad after he died and I just considered it part of the grieving process. My dad’s passing wasn’t sudden like your dad’s but it was such a trauma. Sorry to hear what happened.
Regarding the vivid dreams, I have those with my nerve pain killers. I dreamt that the actor Jeremy Irons was selling me a pink pair of sandals in a market in Marrakesh. I woke up just when I was choosing a pair of earrings to match.
I spoke to my consultant who manages a different condition and she said she had a vivid dream when starting a new drug. She was a free mason and was asked to give a speech but she was unable to speak. She called them ‘drug dreams’ and we had a giggle about it.If you are worried you could speak with your GP about it.
I haven’t had any experience with Tramadol.

Hi, I think I can comment as a Doctor (PhD) of dreams! To clarify, my thesis is sociological rather than medical but I did study how drugs, alcohol and other substances impact dreams - having vivid dreams is one of the things that people experience. So yes, it could be the tramadol - although, to be clear, I'm not an expert on the side effects of drugs. I also studied how psychological, physiological and psychoneurological processes work during sleep and dreams. You are most definitely not going nuts! Dreams can be fragments of memories that get 'recycled' in sleep, i.e. taking a different form to the actual memory (think about how places and people for e.g., are what you know in reality but in the dream look different). In your case, the bag is represented as already being in the bin - before you go to put it in the bin. This is different to your waking memory of being given the bag, and I suspect you may have a clear memory of what you did with it afterwards. I wouldn't worry about it unless it is having an impact on your sleep and all that might entail - fatigue, lack of concentration etc. But it might be worth talking to your GP to see if a different medication could help.

Thank you it makes so much sense when you explain it, I see the hospital bag in the bin in my sleep and when it comes to day time im un easy putting anything in the bin as I'm scared I'm gonna see it whilst I'm awake! ( if that makes sense) I'm in a fibro flare at the minute so could possibly be my pain mechanisms along with stress.
