Uc Chamge Over

MY OH is argophbia and hasnt let house in 4+ year so been recommed do.this over phone. Physically cannt leave house due to mental health
Weve both got no photo id
I am son carer who get dla
Would i need apply for carers element on Uc and does this then turn off work commitments for me is that correct
Sorry i have a learning disability so hars for me to understand ot all

Your OH should be able to do a biographical telephone appointment to confirm his ID.
If you apply for and receive the carers element of UC, they will turn off your work commitments.
Does your OH currently get ESA? Were you sent a letter to change to UC?

He doesn’t get anything bar Pip at the moment we one joint JSA

The issue you might face is that they will give your OH work commitments.
If your OH also cares for your son, it may be worth him reporting being a carer for your son and you reporting being a carer for your OH.
If he is going to go through the work capability assessment process, he will need to submit a fit note to UC as soon as possible after you claim. Please be aware that they can still ask him to work search with a fit note.
