Hi I had a question if you are on Universal credit and because of being diagnosed with breast cancer and what impact that has on you physically. I am thinking of applying for work capability now if that gets approved would that then have an impact on my Universal credit. Can someone shed some light on this matter please.

Hi,
It would be best to start a new topic for this question.
We would need to know which elements of Universal Credit you currently get, and if you have a partner, which elements they get as well, before being able to advise any further.

Hello and welcome @Snowflake05. I've split this off into your own discussion.
As @OverlyAnxious mentioned, we would need a few more details to be able to help answer your question.
Do you know what elements are currently on your UC award? For example: Standard Allowance, Carer Element, LCW, Transitional Protection

Hi I am on standard allowance its a joint claim.

Macmillian have welfare advisors who can help you at this difficult time 🙂

Thank you, kimmy87. I will look into that.
It has been quite difficult . I had my chemotherapy, and I had so many side effects it caused me neuropathy in my fingers and toes. One of the chemo drugs which was the EC really messed my veins where I get excruciating pain in my arms and find it very difficult to.do daily chores.
I had my surgery on the 6th November its been 3 weeks and because I had all my lymph nodes removed I am.having problems with that arm where I can't stretch that arm out or do anything hardly with it.

Thanks for confirming. If you and your partner are both only getting the standard couples allowance, without LCWRA or Carers Element for either of you, then the LCWRA element will be added in full if you are awarded. An additional £416.19 per month.
If you have any Transitional Protection, due to migrating from Legacy Benefits, then that will be eroded by the addition of LCWRA. If you don't have any Transitional Protection then this doesn't apply in your case.

Hi I had a question with the work capability questionnaire do.you have to send anything with it to support your claim.

Are you either currently going through treatment for cancer or awaiting treatment within the next 6 months, or recovering from treatment?
If so then you automatically qualify for LCWRA. Your Doctor will need to fill out a section in the UC50 form before you return it. The part is on page 24 of the form. You can see a copy of that form here.
You can also see the descriptors and criteria here for LCWRA

Hi poppy123456, I am recovering from surgery and then will be having radiotherapy.
Thank you for the links you sent. I also get housing benefit and child element so would that get reduced if a qualify for the LCWRA or not.

Poppy123456, my consultant, has filled that section in, but would I need to send any additional papers, with the questionnaire for example, any letters of scan, reports or appointments, etc

In my situation as in got breast cancer and ongoing treatment for it and all the side effects i got with it physically does that qualify me for pip also

LCWRA element will not affect your child element or housing element. Does your UC include Transitional Protection (TP)? If it does then the LCWRA element will erode that TP.
As your Consultant has filled in that section of the form you do not need to provide any further evidence or information.

No my UC doesn't include Transitional protection

Thank you poppy123456 I really appreciate it. You have been so helpful.

If your wages fluctuate where sometimes it's more or less would they take any money of your LCWRA. Like they do with your UC

You're welcome. If you don't have children on your claim you won't have the work allowance at the moment. Once the LCWRA element is awarded you'll have the work allowance, which means some earnings you receive each month will be ignored.
If you claim for help with the rent your work allowance will be £404/month, if you don't it will be £673/month. For every £1 of earnings over those amounts your UC will be reduced by 55p.

I get money for 2 of my children which is the child element. We also get help with housing benefit.
So once I get the LCWRA awarded will I be getting £404/month. Is that correct.

I have sent my forms off today. How long do they take to reply back.

The £404 is the work allowance when you having housing on your claim, not the amount for LCWRA.
