Is it worth joining a trade Union?

During Covid my grandson was working frontline in a school. It was then he joined a trade Union. He needed someone in the workplace to protect him. They did. I’ve read some parts of the Easy Read version of the White Paper and it seems they intend to consult unions on lots of areas. There is a Union for Disabled People but I’m not going to push it here. It’s something to make your own mind up about. Just want to help.
