What happens if my parents are no longer here?

Hi,

My parents, specifically my Dad as been my life line, especially these last 2 years when covid and long covid as made me totally bedbound for that time.

So I have that on top of the disabilities that I was born with.

My Dad is getting older now and if something happens to him I'm not going to be able to make food/drink or go to the toilet on my own.

What happens in this situation?

I currently have carers come in 3 times a week to help wash myself.

Would they increase carers or would something else be suggested?

I'm trying to think ahead of the situation. Before anything happens. What normally happens in a situation similar to mine?

Thanks.

I would suggest trying to talk to your social worker because it's better that you get something in place now before it is too late and you end up beinga crisis point.

For me I want to move out so we are looking at getting me into supported living which is near family and is 24-hour support I have been listening to a couple of podcasts from Voige Care and Lifeways which I would recommend a listen.

Remember support can look very different to each person for me I would prefer to live in a flat but for you it might be living in a house with other people or it might be in a residential home.

But that's ok because we are all different and unique
