Capital of less than £6,000 is ignored. For every £250 or part thereof over £6,000 there's a £4.35/month deduction. Entitlement ends with capital over £16,000.

I understand but if I did not state an amount that I can remember when I signed up is that going to be a problem

You said you've never had more than £6,000 so it won't be a problem.

Hello @rabanne, yes that should be okay. UC may say you are meant to tell them anyway, but as £3,000 won't impact your UC award, there won't be any issues with this.

I think when I first claimed with my partner I had 1k he did not and does not have any savings and the only got to the 3k ammount because I had maternity allowance back pay and baby grant awarded

i think a good point to make is that its a total of all accounts adding up to a minimum of £6000 not each account or each person in a couple

You didn’t have more than £6,000 so there’s nothing to worry about. They won’t want to see bank statements further than 4 months unless they think you had more than £6,000 at any one time.

There’s really no other advice to give.
