Hi Kel123,
From personal experience dealing with the council & making a case for yourself to be in a higher band can be frustrating at best, a nightmare at worst.
I was made homeless many years ago and did not know my rights at all. I had no idea I would be judged by the local council as making myself intentionally homeless.
I was eventually given housing, at band B. Years later when suffering abuse, I was given band C.
It took years to climb up the list and find the right property, but each time I bid, I was not shortlisted.
Eventually my health got even worse and I had to be reassessed. I needed an urgent operation, an open surgery. I given band A priority. It took a further two years of bidding to reach the shortlist and eventually be nominated for the chosen property.
I have no idea if your situation has any similarities to mine, but if you have been offered a property rather than given a bidding number, I wonder if you have been considered to have a vulnerability that one of the properties in their housing stock can fulfil.
Due to low housing stock, more councils have adopted a one offer of housing with a sign up on the day policy. Its best to accept any offer and if it is found to be unsuitable, then contest it.
If it doesn't have required wet room, you may need a bathing assessment and housing needs assessment through social services. This would help get your needs met and if necessary they will have the council put in a wet room for you.
Best of luck :)

Some local Authorities do not have a bidding system and some do. Mine does thankfully.
As for where you are on the list it depends on the banding system. For mine when I was given a higher band for medical reasons I was given band B medical priority, which is the highest band for medical conditions in my area. I could bid for mine and it was very fast for me and I waited from Aug to Dec 2023. Signed tenancy agreement on 18th Dec moved in on 13th Jan 2024.
Band C is likely to mean a longer wait, though waiting times are extremely long anyway the majority of the time.
