Hi I'm just really kinda open and honest here. Finding friends that are like is extremely difficult especially with Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy.

Heya @pooleemily29 Sorry to hear you're having a hard time making friends. It can be tricky sometimes. What are your hobbies? I always think that's a good place to start when looking for buddies.

Saying that, some of my friends are polar opposites to me, but we're still great friends, so please don't limit yourself to people who're similar to you. 😊

@Abs_Scope hi thanks but I have feelings that's not going to to work I have just sent @barney12 at message to say that I'll always be there for him snd thinking of him. The only wish I have is that I could travel to see him but I can't. We've talked a lot over the past few days and I understand it's a lot of effort for him of course I do. Emily

I'm guessing you meant to tag me there, but no problem at all. 😁

When you say you have feelings and that's not going to work, which part of my reply are you talking about?
I also have problems travelling, so I can empathise, but I can still have great friendships online, my friends all understand travel isn't easy for me, but we still have plenty of fun online. 😊

Hello @pooleemily29. Albus is on annual leave and won't be back for a couple of weeks so I hope you don't mind me responding to you.

I think it is great you want to talk to your parents about talking to people on Scope. I think if they are concerned it will be because they are worried about your safety so it might be a good idea to explain to them how you are making sure you are safe when talking to people and let them know you have thought about any trouble you might have.

Open and honest conversation can help to build trust.

    A few tips might be:

    1. Explain why you like talking to people on here and how it helps you
    2. Reassure them about safety: Let them know any ways you’re being careful online.
    3. Listen to their worries and take them on board and address any concerns they might
    4. You could also involve them: If they’re still unsure, offer to show them the forum or explain how you keep everything safe and positive and the rules we have in place as it isn't like other social media.

I think it's important not to hide it from them, being open about why it’s important to you might help them understand better.
