To do on uc
I received a "" to do"" on uc today at 3pm and it had to be completed the same day are they allowed to do this and what would happen if I was late it was to report earnings as my employer must have reported late, I am not self employed nor has anything to do with my employment changed, I check my universal credit journal daily as I am a absolute anxcious mess anyway, but I was like what if I couldn't have completed that today literally hours notice it seems extreme, the previous month I didn't get the alert till the following day so I've been checking daily my journal what am I supposed to do check it daily 6pm seems madness, I am chasing the issue with my employer and they are supposed to be looking into it, seems mad they can give you a to do at 3pm to be completed same day

Are you sure you have read it properly because that does seem unreasonable.

Oh absolutely it had to be completed by same day

If your employer hasn't reported your earnings to HMRC when they were supposed to then it will be their fault and not UC. UC are asking for details of your earnings so they can do your months statement.

Hi @charl1980, sorry that's happened to you, I can see why you might be worried! It does seem unfair for them to ask you to submit that the same day when they're notifying you so late.
The reporting is probably so they can calculate your payments correctly, so I don't think you would get into trouble if you weren't able to do it immediately considering this is something that should be happening automatically. HMRC normally have a real time information feed where your earnings are reported by your employer, so you shouldn't need to report your earnings manually each month. It does seem like something might have gone a little bit wrong somewhere!
Hopefully they can get it sorted quickly. But if you're concerned, could you perhaps pop a message in your journal to ask what's going on? They might be able to help clear up why this is happening.

I absolutely get this and my employer is looking into it, if I don't get a link I left msg on journal asking for one but my point is they only gave me three or four hours to do it by the required completed time seems mad, people who don't have lcwra as I do to be expected to complete a to do in such avrushed time is madness, I'm checking my to do list twice a day and my mental health is a mess I'm a nervous wreck

That sounds like a good way forward @charl1980, fingers crossed your boss can help. As you say, this is a lot of stress to put you under when you've got your own things to be dealing with. Hope it gets sorted soon!

I have asked my boss to look into this but like I say I got my statement with no deduction so I told on journal I had worked and had have a wage I presume that was right thing to do, but fact that I had a to do to do so quickly shocked and worried me if u are late do u get sanctioned

Update!!! Found out via making a online tax account they had reported it a few days late twice and on exact date on last pay day it's getting lost somewhere between hmrc and uc what should I do any advice

Hello @charl1980. No, you should not be sanctioned for not reporting your earnings to them, so please try not to worry about that.
Do you know what date they reported to HMRC that they paid you and what date your UC assessment periods are? It could be that if your assessment periods are close to your wage date they will occasionally fall into the 'wrong' assessment period.

The pay date is 28th I opened a hmrc account last night it's been reported on time but apparently if they don't report wages with a ref of your national income number then that can cause delays so I'm going to try that route and ask employers to ask accountant wage payer to do that, I've had a to do but it was too late I reported I got paid 28 th Nov but statement was already generated so I think if this keeps happening they will say I'm been overpaid and keep asking to take it back as they over pay me about 400 in a month

It's the when they ask me to do a "" to do"" to report earnings and then put it on and only give me a few hours to complete they put it on Fri 3pm to be completed by midnight same day

Apparently they do this to ask what I earned just to verify as they haven't received the info off hmrc yet I could scream I'm checking journal every night in paranoia
