Hi, my name is Stevekirstieshusband! Had a paper assessment, is this good or bad?
Hi all been looking through some of these messages but don't know what to make of things....... I had this message earlier today : We've received the written report of your PIP assessment. We will write to you once we've made a decision on your PIP. As a guide you should hear from us within 8 weeks. You don't need to contact us unless any of the details you gave us have changed. Thank you.
But I didn't have any assessment no phone call nothing...... From what I've read I think it's called a written assessment...... So just wondering if anyone could give me a clue as to if this is a good or bad thing ??? I sent in quite a few things from my support worker, my nurse as I'm on a methadone script, And my councillor who is a trauma and bereavement specialist who is helping me with my PTSD so just wondering if them not calling me is a good or bad thing..... Could anyone help put my mind at ease if there is a high or low percentage of these cases being awarded. Many thanks in advance Steve x

You will have had what's known as a paper based assessment. It doesn't mean anything other than no assessment was needed because they had enough of information to write the report without an assessment.
There's no stats for the amount of people being awarded after a paper based assessment. Waiting times for decisions is up to 12 weeks, rather than the 8 you were told.

Hi @Stevekirstieshusband, welcome to the community. As Poppy says, these paper assessments do happen sometimes and it doesn't necessarily mean it'll be a particular result. They're not a sign of anything bad at all.
I hope you're not waiting too long to hear back and you get the result you're hoping for. Fingers crossed!

It's up to 12 weeks, rather than 12 weeks. To be honest, there's really no timescales because waiting times will be different for everyone. Some wait a couple of weeks, some several and others much longer.
