It's Christmas Eve and of course the night before Christmas. So we can't pass the day by without the famous poem by Clement Moore, who wrote the poem back in 1822. It was published a year later in 1823 and is still circulated and shared over 200 years later!

You can read the whole poem here.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

I have two young children, and I love to see them full of Christmas excitement. On Christmas Eve we normally have a quiet morning before meeting friends for a walk in the afternoon. We then settle down to watch a Christmas film and set the scene for Santa, we love to lay out a tray with mince pies and milk for Santa, and some carrots for the reindeer's. Today I am working for a few hours, but will be sure to catch up with the Christmas Eve fun when I finish.

What treats do you leave out on Christmas Eve?

Please remember to look after and be kind to yourselves over the next few days. Christmas can be overwhelming and we can put pressure on ourselves for perfection. It's OK to slow down.

After today I am off until January, so I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

If I'm not working, we normally have a lazy Christmas Eve morning. Then we'll go out to watch something at the cinema and have a big walk in the evening. We'll round things off with new PJs, a Christmas film or games and then it's off to bed (after leaving milk and cookies for Santa of course!).

My youngest is unwell (again!) this year so we're staying in and finding some new ideas!

The self-care Christmas tree is excellent and it's definitely advice everyone should take on board.

Annie, I loved this poem and Clement C. Moore was one of the few authors' names I knew - it rolls off the tongue doesn't it? I remember practicing the first verse.

I didn't know this poem was so long. Thank you for the link ☺️
