Welcome to the forum unfortunately I can't advise you on the Benefits side of things but what I can do is welcome you into the forum and recommend the coffee lounge for a general conversation and the games den for some fun.
Another thing I was going to say is that I have scoliosis which is a curve in the spine so I know how you feel as I had 2 surgeries.

If they are a full time student then they will not be able to claim carers allowance for looking after you.
If your ESA includes the SDP then you will lose that if they claim carers allowance for looking after you. Although, if you don't still claim child benefit for them and they are not registered blind or claiming a qualifying disability benefit your SDP would have ended once child benefit ended.

thanks for the welcome yes I feel you nothing as bad as anything to do with the back pain it’s awful.
Thanks poppy
no he’s finished education, not working at the moment and I no longer receive child benefit and haven’t since September for him. So would he be ok to apply for CA? And it wouldn’t effect my pip or esa?
thanksGreat group by the way

Thank you. Then if your ESA included the SDP when you were claiming child benefit that should have ended when he left education and you would have needed to report the changes.
Yes, he can claim carers allowance, it will not affect any of your benefits. He can ask for this to be backdated to the date your benefits stopped for him, assuming he was caring for you at that time.
He should also start a claim for Universal Credit because he's entitled to that in his own right. When he starts a claim he will need to report being your carer and his UC will include carers element. As he's living with you he will not be able to claim for help with any rent.
His UC will include standard element (under 25) £311.68/month and carers element £198.31/month. The carers allowance will be deducted in full going forward at a rate of £354.90/month. Carers allowance will then pay him separately. His overall benefits entitlement will be the same, with or without carers allowance. In this case if he's asking for carers allowance to be backdated it's definitely worth claiming it as well.
If he decides to work in the future please be aware that at the moment the earnings limit for carers allowance is £151/week.
As a carer he will have no work commitments for UC.

Hi @Kitty20 Welcome to the community!
I can see you've received some information from @poppy123456 so I won't add anything at this time but please shout if you need anything else.
I hope you'll have the opportunity to browse the forum categories such as the coffee lounge or games den which are both great places to have a chat and a bit of fun with other members. ☺️
Also, I hope you don't mind but I've updated your post name with some key details of your post. This just helps others in the community who might be able to help or benefit from your post identify it when they're looking around the forum. I hope that's ok.
All the best,
Holly.

hi @Holly_Scope great place here and thank you! My son has been accepted for carers allowance I just wanted to make sure it didn’t effect my ESA and pip.
The lovely @poppy123456 cleared it up for me :)

It would have been a little easier if you had said that he's been awarded carers allowance already.
