Council tax
I asked this question few days ago had benefit check recieved email no change then recieved council Tax letter saying savings over 6 thousand by 400 so stopped council Tax I am correct on understanding it's disregard for a year ? Recieved March 20th 2024 as I got payback from DWP Morgan asked am I sure of the Dates yes I am so my question is it disregard for a year ? Lost letter of proof yes always losing stuff so requested letter from pip which be sent probley after Xmas I despise being on this system

Your question was answered by myself and Morgan. Yes, it's disregarded for 12 months from the date you receive it in your bank.

CCan I ask poppy they wanted me to pay 253 and then month later another 253 I'm not paying I've emailed them stating disregarded again and waiting for letter from pip what I don't understand is recieved email saying had looked at my review No change anyway thankyou

Are you sure they are saying this is from an overpayment due to your savings? Do you usually have any council tax to pay at all? If so are you all up to date with your payments for this?
I can't advise about the actual payments because all local Authorities have their own rules.

I phoned she said stopped as was 6 thousand 400 I explained 5 800 was payment from DWP by bank statements showing dwp paid on 20th March I lost the letter pip sent saying they paid me this as chamge in law and will be disregarded till 20th March 2025 I had no other saving just pip going in and I paid o council tax I emailed explaining this again and I said after Xmas the letter from dwp will be here to show the lady on phone wasn't getting what I was saying she said get below 6 grand apply again I just found I'm income related esa what does that mean when applying for uc also poppy I did recieved email from council saying had all evidence and there's no change

No debts with council or rent I'm well ahead in rent been over paying for a year for uc

Are benefits backpayments always disregarded for council tax purposes? Or is that something that can be decided by each council?

I think they haven't taken my payback as disregarded because lady said when get under 6 grand reaply I had five thousand 800 and other money so to them looked like six thousand 400 I'm not paying they take ages to respond the thing is it is under six grand be asking to reply now and again for uc ???
