Best (or worst) Christmas gifts

What’s the most unforgettable Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
It could be the best, the worst, the most meaningful, the silliest—just the one that stands out the most!

The daughter that I live with always spoils me even though I tell her not to spend her money on me. She refuses to listen and does anyway, she’s so sweet.
I can’t think of a worst present that I’ve had. The best, I’ve had many wonderful presents from her and my other daughter over the years but the 2 that stand out the most are… Lego camper van, which I had 2 years ago. I enjoyed every minute of making that and now it’s on show in my glass cabinet.
Also a luff adjustable pillow. I wanted one for a long time and I’m never great about spending money on myself and for a pillow they are expensive. That same year she bought me one. It’s the best pillow I’ve ever had and still have it.
She’s told me I have 16 presents this year and I’ve no idea what they could be.

If I receive a gift I don't like or will use I recycle it to someone else who I know will. Maybe birthdays or next Xmas

It sounds like you have a very sweet, thoughtful and generous daughter, @poppy123456. I love surprises, especially when someone puts thought into picking something they think I'll love. You'll have to let us know what she surprises you with this year! One of my favourite gifts was actually a Lego set too—it was based on one of my favourite Disney movies and now sits proudly on my living room cabinet.
I recycle gifts that way too, @Sandy_123! It’s always nice to make sure it ends up with someone that will use it rather than ending up in a landfill.

My most unusual gift was about 9 years ago, I received a beautifully wrapped rubber chicken.
To this day, I still don’t know who it was from, as it was slipped under my tree so I presume by family. There was no explanation, just the rubber chicken.
I’m still not sure if it was meant as a joke or not, but it made me laugh, and I still have it. It also acts as a bit of a conversation starter when people see it!

I can't really remember any, especially from childhood. But as an adult, unrelated to Christmas I've had some meaningful ones.
I think the best have been really personal, such as a handwritten letter or a calendar someone had made for me once, with photos of things I love and they'd added notes on certain dates. ❤️ I know that sounds silly and mushy but it's the thought and effort that's always meant the most to me, time is the most valuable gift!!

My late sister in law who wasn't a nice person. Got my late mum a long suede hippie coat. She never wore it. I got a book of womens poems and my daughter who was about 7 a plastic policeman's hat 😆 🤣

I do that too @Sandy_123

Good question! I've had a lot of great presents over the years. The most random was a mini blow heater from my in laws. Although we thought it was random, they said they got it because I complained of cold feet when I work in our conservatory, so presume it was actually a thoughtful gift 😊

For years have asked folk not to buy Christmas presents, friends know I don't do Christmas presents and cards. Most items received (unless very personal to me) go to one of local charity shops straight away - even before my note of thanks delivered🙄. Such a waste of money, effort and time - at my age give a packet of biscuits/food as if I've too much I can give to neighbours, friends, charity workers, fire station etc.

The worst present I got was garish eyeshadow set from one of my sisters. I don't wear eyeshadow ever and she isn't a nice person.
She got my 3 children hardwares and they were really young at the time and a plastic tiara for my daughter who was a real tomboy.
It backfired as it gave us a right laugh and the handwarmers came in useful the following freezing winter.
I regift presents too rather than dump them.
The best Christmas present ever was from my partner's son. It was a framed photo of us. I actually cried at how thoughtful he was.
He said he noticed there were no photos of us. I hadn't wanted to offend his late mum's memory so hadn't put one up. It was so thoughtful of him and the acceptance of being part of the family was priceless.

My worst Christmas present was a pogo stick aged 6. I had just got it outside and impatient big sister decided to bounce it for me and I bit through my tongue and bottom lip. Rushed to hospital to be stitched up and have the most painful injection of my life in my derriere. I never saw my pogo stick again 😅
Best present is still the £1 back-scratcher I bought for myself a few years ago 😁

Correction - the most unforgettable Christmas gift was a pogo stick. A great present just that I never got to use it and we didn't eat on time that Christmas Day 😂
