Hey @Catherine21 can I please ask where you got this information from?
We have said many times Scope have had meetings with the government since they came into power. Though as with most things, no announcements are made until there's something worth announcing. But we can keep everyone posted as we receive information. 😊
I'd say this a positive step though, it's showing the new government are interested in what disabled people have to say. 😊0 -
This is all I could find:

Thanks @Kimmy87 most appreciated. 😁
Just my personal opinion, but I'd take anything you read from websites with local names followed by 'live' etc with a huge pinch of salt. They're all run by the same company and are extremely good at purposely misinterpreting information so their sites get more clicks. Always be wary of sites run by the Reach Plc.

Scope are fantastic at putting our minds at rest, regarding benefits. They are a charity, not a news service. They can only give us news when they get it.

And I am very grateful to scope which I've expressed on many occasions I've explained I'm severely dyslexic I'm trying to part of a group and thought be some understanding yes I am honest and will try and express my feelings on topics and some people don't agree that's fine I've been called selfish for from selfish someone said I must have a sad life I apologised for my behaviour when I first joined I'm not harsh at all you just don't understand me some genuinely kind non judgmental people on here I obviously don't fit it to this forum I'm left feeling Like @## all the time pls delete account thanks to albus bluebell strawberry nightcity people leave because you go in on people also thanyou poppy

I'll pop you a private message shortly @Catherine21
I think the problem here is sometimes the written word can be misconstrued by others. It's very easy for us to read our comments in our own voice, but others wont. I know you were just asking questions. 😊

Additionally, there appears to be a real sense of certain people playing their particular "disability card" in order to excuse or minimise certain behaviours.
AKR, would you care to elaborate on this? Which disability are we talking about here and which particular behaviours??

Hi @Catherine21 Please do not leave. You are part of the forum just like everyone else. Take care.

Hi @AKR - just to let you know that I've appreciated reading your recent comments (I read comments on the forum when I can, altho haven't commented much myself), & yes, with your background, your posts are always well-balanced & constructive.
IMHO I think reading the tabloids doesn't help, particularly those with any sort of 'political' content, which we've seen mentioned in recent months. In fact such 'political' content until anything is known as a certainty has become one of the things that has put me off the forum for quite a while.
However, I'd say that the majority of our members have a disability/disabilities, & this needs to be kept in mind. As mentioned, the tabloids don't help & can cause uncertainty for some members. @Catherine21 for example worries about the DWP looking into her spending, which won't be an issue (tho we can't stop her worrying).
I think we all have trust in Scope, & the Scope online community team, & whilst it can sometimes be felt that some members are treated more favourably than others (which can be older members rather than more recent ones, or vice versa; those with mental rather than 'just' physical disabilities, etc. ) the Scope team do a great job in trying to support everyone.
Therefore I'd say that it would be a shame if everyone (within reason) didn't feel able to comment, or wanted to delete their account. Scope is for us all. Unfortunately there will always be some problems on the forum in different shapes & forms, but hopefully we can weather that together. This online community is the Scope team, & all our members.

I understand how you might think this way I'd like to explain the best I can I write as if I'm talking it just flows in my head I know your defending scope and on reflection looking at my posts especially when I joined I was horrid and there is no excuse for that in the real world I am not selfish inconsiderate unkind I'm the total opposite the way I write has always caused some sort of problems for me its not an excuse its fact I appreciate scope so much as believe it or not I have learnt so much and appreciate this forum I know I've offended alot of people with my posts and I know I need to think before posting and on life as I can get passionate about justice and the world and I don't want attention or be centre of attention and even myself I can see how it would look like that not using disability card I explain because I'm generally ashamed of my writing and the way I connect with people is by relating to thier struggles so seems I'm talking about myself and many might think me writing this is looking for attention its not its because I actually care about scope and the people on this group if I didn't I wouldn't offer explanations

I am sorry to hear you are stepping away, but I completely respect your decision to prioritise your peace and well-being. It is disheartening how negativity can cloud spaces meant for support, and I deeply admire your strength in choosing a path that nurtures your health.
Your courage in sharing your diagnosis of early-onset dementia and probable CTE is truly inspiring, raising crucial awareness. Your openness is a powerful testament to your resilience, and I have great respect for your choice to focus on more enriching pursuits.
Your expertise in employment law and your balanced contributions have been invaluable to this community. Even after taking early retirement from your profession due to health challenges, your continued dedication to helping members speaks volumes about your compassion, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to making a positive impact, despite the severe health challenges you face yourself.
Your insights will be sorely missed, especially with the government’s £115 million Connect to Work scheme, which aims to support up to 100,000 people with disabilities, health conditions, or complex barriers to work annually. Many members will undoubtedly face complex questions about these changes, as well as employment contract laws, and your understanding would have been an invaluable resource.
Your support, albeit from a distance, will continue to resonate within this community. Your legacy of knowledge and guidance will be deeply missed, particularly as new government initiatives for disabled employment unfold. I will certainly miss your expertise and wish you all the best in your future pursuits.
