Hi, my name is JanMcD! Not sure what I have been paid from PIP, can anyone help?

Hope everyone is good.
I applied for and returned my PIP application at the end of sept. On 1/1/25 I received a text stating I have been awarded PIP and would receive a letter, I haven't received it yet. I have had £487.90 paid into my bank account but dont know what this is for, is it for a back payment, is it a 4 week amount? I'm feeling very much in limbo as I have a feeling I have only been awarded the basic mobility rate.
Any advise really appreciated.

The money that you've received is your back pay.
I suspect you may be right in thinking the award is standard rate mobility.
You can call PIP and ask, expect a long wait of 60+ minutes to speak to someone.

Thank you Kimmy87. Very disappointing. I suppose I just have to wait for my letter for an explanation.

You can appeal the decision if you think more should have been awarded.
The first stage is a Mandatory Reconsideration, which has a very low success rate.
The second stage is an independent appeal tribunal hearing, which has a much better success rate, especially if you appear in person/video/phone.
The DWP also sometimes make a pre hearing offer.

Thank you. You advice is really appreciated.
I will definitely appeal and will come back here for help once I get to that stage.

The award letter will show where you did and didn't score points, if you ask for a copy of the assessment report it goes into much greater detail.
