Houseplant Appreciation Day!
Benefits of houseplants:
- Help to produce clean air
- Reduce noise pollution
- Improve stress levels
- Boost your productivity
And one that really surprised me…
- They can aid recovery - be it from injury, surgery or an illness
We’d love to see your plants and any tips/tricks for maintaining them.
Here’s a picture of one of mine!

I love having a house full of plants, luckily they're all so low maintenance, they're all ok with a once a week watering and I've got alarms set to make sure I don't forget. 😊
My top tip would be making sure your plant is in the right place. Some plants hate direct sunlight and even hate breezes, so they don't do well in a high traffic area in the house where people are walking past them lots.

I used to enjoy pottering about in the garden but can't get to it now. Doesn't stop me having houseplants though! Every windowsill has them. Think my favourite is my aspidistra. I've had it years , it's a lovely big plant now.

Nice plants Kimmy. What is it they say about Christmas cacti? Don't move them when they're in bud ? Mine got moved! No flowers for me this year😁

Funny you say that, in November I had one massive bloom then knocked the only two buds off, thought to myself well that's it then, imagine my surprise a few weeks ago when more buds appeared!

I've always been a plant person, ever since I used to help my Dad in the garden as a toddler (I never put things in my mouth, I was a sensible kid xD).
I have a ten year old poinsettia, a four or five year old dragon tree, several spider plants, a streptocarpus…and right now some plants overwintering inside, so a couple of coleus, a begonia and a fuchsia are also part of the party. I also have a cactus who was rescued as it fell off my Dad's plant, and another succulent, the type of which I currently can't recall.
My poinsettia is quite old now so no longer bracts. But I believe in a plant being for life, not just for Christmas. I don't really like when people joke about being 'plant killers' or forgetting to water them…to me it's the same as forgetting to feed your dog or cat and then laughing about it o.O.
My dragon tree is the second I've had. The first was rescued from my old work place when it closed down, but died of old age five or six years ago. My new one was bought as a birthday gift before the pandemic, and is now…getting tall ;)
I know some autistic people find dogs calming - I find dogs extremely stressful, borderline terrifying, so the idea of one coming into my home gives me chills. But I can talk to my plants and aside dropping a few leaves they make good listeners…
Can't really take them for walks, mind you…1 -
I'm guessing Holly's plant came from the same place as mine 😀

Do you have the same one @Florine? I bet it looks better than mine. I need to show mine a bit more love 😅
