PIP Back Pay

Hello,
Just wanted to see if anyone else had been in a similar situation to me.
New PIP claim had my telephone assessment on the 2nd December.
so still waiting on a decision.
However yesterday I received a call from PIP to ask if I would be ok to take a large sum of arrears.
The lady I spoke with couldn't give me anymore information other than if i agreed to take it as a lump sum. She told me to wait for the letter about it.
So I assume I have been awarded. I'm wondering how long until I find out.
Has this happened to anyone else.

You shouldn't assume anything until you know the actual decision has been made and there's an award. I've known them ask this question regardless of whether they were awarded or not.
They very often ( not always) send a text if there's an award when it's a new claim, if you gave them a mobile number as contact. This text is usually sent out the following morning after the decision is made, usually shortly after 8am. The text will say, you have been awarded PIP and to expect the letter within the next 2 weeks.

Thank you. I did think it was strange why they would ring me and I haven't had an award yet.
What would the back pay be for then if I wasn't awarded.0 -
There would be no money owed if there was no award. DWP very often do strange things.

I don't understand it at all. Why ring and say you have back pay and would you be ok to take it as a lump sum.
They are strange.
Thank you for your messages .0 -
Did you get the award?
They phoned me and said the same thing and I should received the money 3-5 days but I've had no text either
