Do you have a need to get help with housing costs?
If so claiming UC was the correct advice, as your housing costs will be paid via UC Housing Element.
Not everyone claims through migration sometimes a natural change of circumstances means a UC claim is necessary.

hi kimmy yes i do need help with my housing costs but i have had no migration letter no change of circumstances and the benefit cap might leave a rent shortfall have i messed up?

Needing help with rent is a change of circumstances.
It's correct advice you were given and you haven't messed up.
There are two paths from legacy benefits:
Natural migration, when there is a change of circumstances meaning a UC claim is necessary.
Natural migration, where the claimant would be better off under UC so there is no need to wait for a migration notice.
Managed migration, where you get a migration letter.

i dont fully understand kimmy Why would it be that i havent been sent a migration letter. Could it be that i am exempt because I am bipolar adhd and i didnt need to i was getting enough money for my rent on hb so i would never have rocked the boat especially since with this so called benefit cap uc might be enough to cover all the rent

I didn't realise you were already getting Housing Benefit. Unfortunately now you've claimed UC there is no going back. It's not a bad thing because you would have had to migrate soon anyway.
If you feel you cannot manage, is there someone in your life you would like to manage your claim- known as being an appointee?
Migration letters are going out anytime between now and December.
You haven't had one because the algorithm or whatever they use to select people, hasn't yet picked you for one.
There are no exemptions for migration, legacy benefits are ending.

If you cannot manage your claim, that's what the appointee system is for:
