Hi, my name is jamelaking!

mobile phone. This is a real problem. At the moment I cannot afford one and I wish not to have one. So I cannot access most things I need to do. Are we being manipulated within an inch of our lives to spend our pensions on things we don’t want. Right now our landline is down and I cannot get pass the mobile phone to access my surgery.

Hey there @jamelaking and welcome to the community. 😊
It does seem like mobile phones are an essential part of modern living and house phones are slowly becoming things of the past for better or for worse. There's many second hand phone sites out there now which are pretty good, so you dont have to spend an arm or a leg to buy one, or you can pay monthly for one. Would these be of any help?

Hello and welcome to the Scope forum 😊
My mobile phone cost me £20 new and running costs are £6 a month with no exit fee.
One way or another you do have internet access. Everything is going digital and it doesn't suit me either. AI is increasingly being used in our healthcare and benefits system. As a last resort you could write to your GP.
My main reason for commenting is to warn you that landlines are also going digital and we will need to replace our handsets by the end of 2025. Cordless phones will not work.
Try Freecycle for a freebie in the meantime.
