Burns Night (or Burns Supper) is celebrated annually in honour of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns.

The poet and lyricist died at aged 37, in 1796, but remains the most prominent poet to have written in the Scots dialect.

It’s traditionally celebrated with a haggis dinner, with neeps and tatties (turnips and potatoes). I’ve added links to some recipe idea’s –

We all know his most famous melody “Auld Land Syne” which is traditionally sung at the stroke of midnight New Years Eve to big farewell to the old year. It is famous worldwide! For instance, in Japan, it’s played in department stores and bars to signal closing time.

If you’re curious, I’ve added links below to a few of his most well-known poems.

We’d love to know if you’re planning to celebrate Burn’s night this year! And if so, what are your plans?

I lived in Scotland for many years and always loved Burns Night. Sadly I forgot to buy haggis this year! Will just have to settle with reading a few poems.

I have my haggis & neeps, but having cauli mash instead of tatties, although, with the carbs in the haggis, it won't matter! 😆 Cheers for this popping up, as the haggis has to go on in a minute. 🥂

My daughter eats vegan haggis. Tastes like the contents of my Sebo vacuum bag (I don't actually know this to be true!).

I have actually had very delicious vegan haggis! I think there are still quite a few misconceptions with vegan food. There is plenty of delicious vegan food out there! It's come quite a way from 20 years ago.
