PIP Tribunal

Hi everyone
I’ve received my MR today which (as expected) has said the same as my original PIP decision scoring 0 for everything ! I decided I will go to Tribunal. Did other people who went to Tribunal use a third party to help and support you (ie CAB) or has anyone done this process on their own and been successful … I would appreciate your advice thank you 🙏

Hey there @Kittylees53 !
Sorry to hear about the zero points, it's far too common to hear that here, which is rubbish!
I've recently been in the same position as you, I sorted out the tribunal myself, as it's fairly easy to do online and they talk you through it well. The DWP ended up calling me a month after applying for the tribunal, to discuss the original report and gave in and awarded me the PIP I'd asked for, plus a longer award. So it may not even get to tribunal. 😊Though I've had to go all the way to the tribunal twice before and did that with the help of my mum, as I was in no fit state at the time.

thank you @Albus_Scope that is so good to hear and most reassuring. I thought I was probably able to do it myself (apart from the obvious mental health stress and anxiety involved) I just didn’t know whether it was more likely to have a positive outcome if the forms were completed by (or I had support from) a third party. I shall start the “ball rolling” today, and then, if I become overwhelmed, don’t understand or just feel like I’m going in circles, seek support from a professional body. Thank you again x

No problem at all @Kittylees53 my claims were for mental health issues, so I know how stressful it can get at times. But the tribunal is honestly worlds apart from the original assessments and you if you forget any evidence, you can just add it at a later date. Though often, you don't actually need to provide any evidence as the DWP are often just wrong. 😆
Best of luck and if you need any more support, we're all here to help you. Please keep us in the loop. 😊

Why does a tribunal take so long?
Why don't people ever listen to me?
Why does PIP make the assumption that I am able to do things, when I am not?
Does PIP not care about health and safety?

Hey sben, it is unfortunately common that many DWP decisions seem to make rather broad assumptions in the way they interpret forms and evidence they receive. A tribunal is a far more neutral and thorough process. They will listen to you, a tribunal is your chance to actually be heard.
The reason tribunals take so long is that unfortunately there are many appeals and the tribunals service is backlogged alongside a lot of our courts system.

It took 2 years for me to get a reply from a tribunal, and they was not very helpful. It felt like they did not listen to me.
