Hi Jerzy, I don't think I can help you with your first question, but as someone with a Motability car, i thought I would ask you a question.
Are you in receipt of DLA - Disability Lving Allowance, PIP - Personal Independence Payment, ADP - Adult Disability Payment, WPMS - War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement? Those are the disability allowances that allow one to access the Motability scheme.

A warm welcome the community @Jerzy71
When someone receiving housing benefit moves in somebody else, their housing benefit claim will be reassessed and the rules regarding this depend on whether you are both of pensionable age or if one of you is of working age, so it looks like it may be possible that she will have her housing benefit reduced or stopped.
This is the link for the eligibility criteria to join the Motability schemePlease reach out if you have further questions or would like more support!

Thanks Ranald,Unfortunately I get slightly more pension than the qualifying amount so can’t claim for any benefit at all

Have you looked into applying for Attendance Allowance? This is not means tested.
Gaining an award makes Pension Credit more likely, as your minimum income threshold goes up.
It won't qualify you for a Motability car, but the extra money could go towards taxis or funding a car yourself.
