Hello

I've been trying so hard to put my PIP claim through but I'm stuck, they said they needed to confirm my identity and send me a letter

This letter says

"To claim any benefit we need to confirm your identity.

Please can you send us your passport, if you have one. If you do not have a passport, please send one of the following documents

birth certificate (UK or foreign)

adoption certificate or

current full or provisional driving licence

We also need 2 of the following items. One of them must show your current address:

marriage certificate

divorce papers

student or services ID card

rent card

most recent council tax or rate bill

current mortgage policy

current tenancy agreement"

So two questions, am I actually supposed to send my passport off in the post?

And secondly. Don't have any of those 2 further documents they want? I don't know what I'm supposed to do

It's giving me such anxiety

They usually request to see original copies, but I know people that have sent photocopies and been accepted.

Do you not pay rent or council tax or have a birth certificate?

I received the same letter yesterday. I had a text last week saying my case was being reviewed by a health professional and yesterday I got a letter asking to send passport. I haven't got an uptodate passport and I don't drive. I managed to find my birth certificate and latest council tax bill and marriage certificate. Hopefully that will do ??

Peen04 - there are more examples of ID you can send on the over side of the letter. I think it includes bank statements, mobile phone contracts, utility bills etc
