Pip assessment

hi I need some advice my partner has stage 4 copd it really is a awful time for him atm current awaiting lung reduction surgery his gets Lower rate mobility he’s been getting this for around 2 years now last November I reported to pip that things have gotten worse with his health as his ability to carry out tasks they sent me a how your disability affects you form I filled that in sent it off and he received a text December 3rd saying we’ve received your form I wrote on the form how he’s on the waiting list for surgery sent them proof for this and told them how it’s really affecting what he can do now. January 23rd he received a letter off capita saying we will be phoning you Monday 27th for telephone assessment I’m worried as this seems to be very quick also 2 weeks ago he was prescribe home oxygen which I didn’t send in the proof yet as I didn’t think he would of had a assessment this quick I just feel as if I’ve messed up the form as he was told off the hospital that he needs to use it while going to the toilet as stairs is a real struggle for him also he used it when eating to help with the breathlessness also cooking for him it’s out the question as he’s been told oxygen can’t be used around the naked flames he didn’t really cook originally as it’s to much walking and bending around the kitchen just think I messed up big time as he’s seems to of deteriorated since I filled the form in just worried there gonna refuse him based on this
Thanks

also forgot to mention he takes the oxygen out the house if he goes anywhere as again walking is a major problem for him walking for him is extremely slow when I’m with I feel as if I have to stop with how slow he walks and he walks about 20 to 30 steps and has to take a break again I didn’t mention this

The length of time it’s taken to have an appointment for an assessment is no indication of what the decision maybe. It just means it was rather quick, which is fine and stops the worry and anxiety going on for longer than you need it to.
Please make sure you tell them about the oxygen during the assessment as that would be useful information.
Once the assessment is complete and the report is written and returned a decision can take up to 12 weeks.

As Poppy has said the speed with which you get the appointment does not indicate what the decision could be or what the DWP thinks. It could be due to the region you are in and the waitlist there among many other factors.
It is fine to bring up new information at the assessment if it was not in the form or happened since the form was handed in.
Do let us know if you have any other questions or aren't too sure about something. We are happy to try and help 🙂

thank you for your help. I just assumed they wouldn’t take it in to account as I never wrote any of this or sent in proof but I will defiantly be mentioning it when they phone tomorrow. Just really hoping he get this extra help as the money would come in handy for all the hospital trips to New Cross as taxi is are only method of travel as he unable to use public transport he will wants a mobility scooter for when he’s out
thank you0
