My two boys 16 and 12 need there own bedroom, and my partner, now my daughter is in a mental health hospital under section for the last two years, now she is ready to look at doing home leaves ets to then be sent home but we don’t have a bedroom for her, so on gold with urgent medical needs, also letters have gone in as we need a move to a different area due to a sexual assault are her, but be told this could take years to find one, so what can we do about it any advice please.

    Hi @kc1,

I’m so sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds incredibly tough for you and your family. Since you are already on gold band with urgent medical needs, it may be worth asking your local council for a review of your priority status, especially with your daughter needing a room for home leave. You can also check if you qualify for an emergency move under homelessness laws. Shelter UK explains more here.

Given the risk to your safety, your council should consider moving you sooner. You might want to contact your local MP or councillor. As they can sometimes help push urgent cases forward.

In the meantime, if your home isn’t suitable, you could look into Disabled Facilities Grants for adaptations. You might also find Citizens Advice helpful in challenging housing decisions.

I really hope you get the support you need, so please keep us updated if you can!

Shocking I am lost for words.
